I have been driving my Mark around to work out the kinks before I yank the engine to swap.

That said, this is more of a curiosity about the Mark steering column.

Mine is so loose of an assembly I won't let anyone drive it at all until I know what the deal is here.

It is a complex assembly, it' driven electrically to move in, out, up and down for sure.
Mine also has significant side to side movement that is exceptionally disconcerting.

I can find positions that are more rigid than others but still not rigid as a steering column should be.

What is the scoop?

Not sure about that one. Where does the lateral movement come from? If you remove the column covers you should be able to see where the flex point is.

Thanks.
I will pull the covers tomorrow, now that I know it is abnormal. I will include pictures if I can too.

Soooo, I finally remembered to take a photo of this car's tilt wheel mojo.

When I pulled the access panel off two of these fell on the floor.
