I was wanting to know if there is a particular reason that my '89 Bird doesn't have a MAF. My intake tube just goes from the filter to the throttle body. I have no idea why there isn't one. The car runs great and the engine and tranny are strong. Thanks for the info. MAC:confused:

IIRC it was '89 and early '90 cars that were speed density instead of Mass Air Flow. Your car uses known tables of engine efficiency to run.

Yep, 89-90 3.8L NA MN12's used a speed density (MAP sensor) setup.

89-90 3.8L SC MN12's, and all 91-97 MN12's used a MAF setup.
