Ok, I'll GLADLY and QUICKLY restore any paying member's files. They're all still on the server but have been moved to an alternate directory. I have a simple utility that will do the job for me, but I need to know your hosting username. Just post that in a message and I'll fix them.

Don't expect me to notify you that they're fixed, they'll work when they work, but I will do my best to do them as quickly as I can.

Yup. Not everybody uses their forum username for the hosting. Otherwise I could automate the process. I just need to know the name you use for the hosting.

non-members will also still be able to host stuff, but there will be limitations on it that aren't there now. You'll see when it comes around.

To expand a bit on Shadow's description, just being a forum member won't get you immediate access. There will be a minimum posts requirement. Otherwise, the same little teenybop pukes that hogged the space before will just reg an account and start uploading. The post requirement won't be huge; I'm thinking around 50 posts.

Just a note to all you guys. ALL usernames are lowercase with NO SPACES. If you give me a mixed upper/lower name, or spaces, I may or may not bother to try and find out what your account name really is.

You know, some of you whiners really don't bother to read. Downward spiral? I think not. EVERYBODY who is a regular poster here will have their access restored soon. I have no intention of deleting anybody's legit stuff.

We could have blocked offsite linking and waited around til the new software was ready, but that idea was decided against. Instead a wakeup call was deemed the best approach. We wanted people to be aware of what they were getting for free. The best way to do that is to take it away. So that now when you get it back, it will be appreciated and not taken for granted as it has been to date.

Spike, offsite linking will likely be limited to small files (avatars, etc) with the exception of a few sites. For instance, I don't mind people showing their pics on ModDepot, SCCoA, etc., but don't expect them to work on TeenyBoppersRUS.

Ok, when are you guys going to READ DIRECTIONS? If you don't post your hosting name in the post where you ask for it to be restored, it will be ignored. I'm not going to go lookup your e-mail address and cross reference it against the hosting database. If you don't tell us your account name, it doesn't get restored. Comprende?

For whatever reason, somebody linked to an article in the members pages. That wasn't a good idea. Brian and I are working on converting portions of the site over to the newer layout and format now. The articles are on the list of upcoming changes. It will come back.

I've restored several non-member sites. I'm not a complete jerk about things. The people whose accounts I've restored had valid reasons to request and asked me nicely about it. This was NOT simply about blocking people who don't pay, but rather blocking the little teeny boppers hosting porn and warez on the server.

No information will be lost. I will not delete anything for at least 3 months after I get the new system up and running. At that point, I will start deleting the old files. The new system is nearly ready for initial testing. Once I'm sure it will work, then I'll begin the task of connecting it to the current vB database.

The only 5.4L bashing I've seen are against the SOHC. Everybody's said the DOHC is what was needed to make real power. Tell the guy to post and let the chips fall where they may. Just be warned that speculation is crap. Present real info with real numbers and real pictures and don't worry about it. That said, drop it in this thread. Make a new DOHC 5.4L thread.

It's not an automated process and since the last updates of vBulletin, I'm having to recode the script that does the renewal. I have NOT forgotten you guys.
