I may have found a trans cooler that I won't have to worry about being too small.
It's 11"x11"x3.5" with 1/2" npt fittings. It's used but the guy said it's in good condition. He wants $55 for it. If I can get my O2 sensor warrantied (it's 2 months old and died) I may go get it and try it. Any opinions before I do?

Yours looks pretty big. Others that clame to be 28K GVW are about 11"x8"x1".
This one is approximately 11"x11"x3.5" So I assume its about 40K GVW. Its a Modine. As soon as I get it I'll try to post some pics.

going with a big cooler is fine, but you can over cool the trans fluid so if you don't have a high stall TC (3200+) then you should consider a temperature control, works much like the coolant t-stat.

I still plan on using the factory cooler so I hope that overcooling won't be a problem. I'm going to add a temp gauge too, so i'll know if it is. If it doesn't work out I can say I've wasted 50 bucks on worse things.

In NC, I'd say the chance of overcooling the fluid is somewhere akin to nil.
