If there are clamps, what most likely happened is your car had the mufflers replaced at some point. The stock ones like to rot out. So in your case it may be that easy.
Rarely can you just "unclamp". When one of those clamps is tightened, it puts a dimple in the pipes that prevents it from pulling off later. Get out that die grinder!
The whole exhaust system comes off pretty easy, in two parts, but on a florida car.
