(I'm doing this on a 3.8 car but it may work on the 4.6 cars also)

I have never been the type to just take things out and be happy, so here is my spin on the air silencer removal mod..

I took out the air silencer and started looking at it after the want to take it apart got the best of me I cut the thing in half, after doing that I found the almost straight inlet pipe so I got looking around my stash of crap and found a rubber intake hose that fit right over the end and a cone shaped inlet for the other end.

So my idea is I'm going to cut a around hole in my front bumper place the cone behind it and use a glue to mount it in place, after that my intake tube will be cut to size and plug right into my semi stock air silencer more or less making "Ram Air" just to be anal I bought some rubber gaskets to replace the factory foam gaskets and a K&N air filter.

P.S. the thing in the photo above is missing the intake tube and cone for the bumper plus it's a demo so my finished item may have a "Spit valve" for the rainy days....

So what are you doing with a USPS tote? ;)

I just took the venturi out of the silencer, and left the filter in place.

Based solely on your user name, I knew the answer to that question was going to be very photographically technical.

It is a nice pic however.

Yea i know, i just got done reading your other post about it in the general tech section.

Hey here's a thought, the 5.0's must have an airbox in that same spot too. Why not start a 3rd thread about it in the 5.0/5.8l section... :zdunno:

oh by the way... since you originally posted it in the general tech section and not the 3.8l section, you might want to post it up there too. lol

Is this even relevent to the 4.6l airbox? I thought they're different depending on the engine? And why didn't you post this in the 3.8l forum as well?

If you must know, I posted this under 4.6L instead of 3.8l B.C. the night I posted this no one was looking at the 3.8 forms and I wanted people to see my post...

As stated before I think <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t230/rcreevesphotography/Yoursuper.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>

That's super!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing in duplicate! :D

Most people would of just posted a link to the other thread they started. It's nice of you to go the extra mile and create two threads about it. ;)

You know what I also think a 1992 Tbird with a 5.0 has the same air filter Southpaw so I guess me posting it here and under general would be fine

Info thanks to http://www.knfilters.com

and Autozone.com

3.8L has a CA6555 same as the 4.6L car hummmmm Southpaw looks like it's the same air filter so most likely it's the same air box

And as I recall the airbox bits your hacking away on are physically different (3.8 vs 4.6) despite being designed to use the same size air filter. The airbox itself is not the same. The filter is...
