What caused my paint to come off? 3 months ago, the paint up there was perfect and smooth. Now I have two huge white stripes running from front to back on either side and it feels like sandpaper. I made the mistake of buying that red wax to try and make it a little better, but now it's hot pink. Is there a cheap fix for the paint other than getting the whole car done? (This is in the works, but a long way off) Also, I can't find my paint code. Maybe I'm not looking right, but I didn't see any listings for 95's. Thanks!

sounds like you had a macco ambassador paint job done... they fuc*ed you.... more than likely if its not pearl white those stripes can be fixed... if it is pearl white then the whole lid has to be redone... don't go to macco to have them fixed btw...

The paint job is a lil on the crappy side, but I don't know who did it or when it was done. The car is red. I figure I can just get white stripes and the crappy paint job stripes will blend right in, lol! (I also have clear coat peeling off driver's door and bubbling on hood and driver's front fender). I reckon when it was fixed, they tried to put it back like it came from the factory, but the passenger door is a different shade from the rest of the car. I'm seriously considering having DH's uncle spray paint it. He did his truck (orange of all colors, yes it's a chevy) and it looks really good. I think it may need more work tho, since that clear coat is peeling and the black sticker is peeled and wrinkled on one door. If I didn't love my car so much I'd get another one.

Just an update

I bought a can of paint from advance today. I can't believe how well it matches! Now, the can itself was a POS, spraying air one sec and paint the next, even with me shaking it constantly, but it looks better than the stripes.

a lot of the paint on the birds is suspect right from factory. I have a 94 4.6 and it's paint is actually flaking off the same way. I think they might have had a primer problem or something.. I had two grey stipes down the roof and trunk of my black car.. Some people pay a lot of money for racing stripes.. but I like the solid black myself. I think I'll paint it next spring.:(

I know for a fact that my car has never been re-painted and It's got orange peel everywhere, so much that it looks like it was done intentionally.

Paint code location

If you're lookin fo the paint code, It's in the drivers door jam on the large ford sticker with all kinds of stuff on it. The two-letter code is with Exterior Color. If youre looking to do this youreself, I could offer some advise. If its just the roof you can paint it and the off color wont be too noticeable, maybe up by the tops of the doors, but theres no red-on-red to stick out. Probably two hours worth of work with tools and a place to do it. Hard to tell.

have you.......

have you buffed it lately? that could be the problem, if you use a buffer improperly by moving it back and forth or in circles, that allows enough time for the buffer to stop spinning for a fraction of a second, not long at all but long enough to burn through the clear coat and paint, my friend did it to my car.....if he wasnt my friend i'd kill him
