Hey y'all.

My cousin has an 1997 Audi A6 that he replaced the radio with one he bought from a junk yard. Problem is the display says SAFE and he can't unlock it. I've tried some Internet research, but no luck for this particular unit.

Here is all the info I have on the radio:

Audi Concert Model # 8N0035186A Serial # 28843 Ref. # CQ-LA1611L

Serial #: AUZ5Z6X0124760

Can any of y'all help us out with this stereo?

You have to know the code for the radio. If you don't have it from the car the deck was removed from, you can't unlock it.

I enabled something like this with an Eclipse deck I put in my 89 Cougar, and had a hard time clearing it, then setup another anti-theft method using a specific CD, and that was an even larger problem, I finally stopped enabling anti-theft on it, but the Audi radio you don't have that choice.

With the radio serial number and the VIN from the donor car Audi can look up your code. They may charge you for the service.
