My factory water pump is ocasionaly leaking. I know that it is time to replace it. I know that the newer pumps have a shorter shaft than ours do. I have herd that 99 gt water pump will work for us because it has one less vane but is more efficent. I might be wrong but johnny or anybody elese that knows please set me straight. I want to keep my orginal water pump pulley.

I have an 01 Cobra pump im trying to sell for 60$. Check the engineering stamp on your pump, if its 604, the Cobra pump will fit and bolt up. It also has a closed vane impeller for better flow and less cavitation.

The only way to know for sure is to check the engineering stamp on the side of the casting. All of the 4.6L pumps are the same except for the pump used on the early '94 Cougar which used a '93 pump with a 605 engineering stamp.

then you don't want a 99+ pump. I think a company called Evans has been mentioned a few times.
That would be mid-'01 up.
The '99-'00 is the same shaft length.
