I recently purchased a 96 4.6 and i had replaced the water pump on the 96 with one form my 97 (i blew the head gasket) the water pump was 1 week old. after the replacement i topped off the anti freeze and let the car run while monitoring the needle ... after about 15 minutes the needled started creeping above the NORM line.. any input on why this would happen or what i should do . Thanks

whenever i refilled on coolant, i just made sure the fill point (which is the coolant reservoir) was the highest point in the cooling system...I just jacked up that part of the car, put a jackstand, and slowly refilled it with antifreeze and distilled water....and I never had any problems with burping the system.....I just simply checked the level the next day, and if it was any lower (which it sometimes was, probably due to a pre-existing air bubble), I just topped it off, and it was good to go
