Well finally made it out to the track again. Dont get to often but do enjoy it. I got rid of the 28 inch tall tires i had and went with 26x9.5x15's

my previous best was a 8.698 in the 1/8th mile
My new best was a 8.520

Not bad for a tire change. I really need 430 gears since i cross the line at around 3800 rpms. Would think i need to be around 5500 or so in third.

Im sure i could drop another tenth pretty easy. I was bracket racing and cant launch at 3000 like i usually do for best times. anything over 2400 and i red light.

Wow nice time. That puts you roughly about 12.5's in the 1/4. Congrats. I tried tghe track last week. 1/8th and ran worse with the supercharger then I did last year without it. About 5tenths to be exact. Only ran a few times and evertime i spun horribley. For the most part the car pulled hard. Even broke going into third. Need tires.

Are DR's or slicks that much of an improvment?I need some badly. I believe 60's were high 2's almost 3 seconds for me. What were your sixtys?

Well times wernt recorded but I believe my buddy said it was in the 90mph range. Its hard to believe giving the time it ran. He said one time it was like 97ish mph and another at just over 100. Which seems high. This was done at a cruise night were times were only shown on the board and not a slip.I caught the time once and it was a 9.3 something. It spun all first and half second to about 55mph or so and then broke losse alittle goin into third.

Well high 80is belieable like 88-90 may 91 with good air to get 97-100 your gonna need 500 plus rear wheel hp and yea your 60fts should be in the 1.60 range, Did you get and aeroforce gauge from me yet? If not when you get some extra coin that a good mod so u can see just how hot the aircharge when leaving the line

sorry for stealing your thread dude

yeah sorry for the hijack. lol i was thinking upper 80's low 90's too. Sucked cause I got no timeslip. I know with the right tires the car could pull those sixtys. And no i have not gotten the gauge from you yet. I just dont have the coin atm and times are proving to be slightly harder right now. When I logged the car on the street my aircharge at WOT was 120-130.

Sorry again for the hijack. once again nice times i hope to get some tires soon and log some accurate times with my car before the season is over.

Well ,how much do you think that the 3800 torque convertor helped with those times ?

His stall helped alot. When I first got mine I droped 7-8 tenths off my 1/8th with just the stall.

robertp, I used a 50 shot to the wheels. The tires alone dropped a little over a tenth since it was fresh rubber and 26 instead of 28 inch tall tires. The extra rpm seemed to help on the big end.

95xbird, Get slicks. Trust me they are worth every penny. I own two drag cars and i dont have the patience for drag radials. I never seemed to be able to hook. Im getting 1.78 60 foots every time with 260 hp and no nitrous. 1.7 with a 50 shot.

cjchevez, the 3800 stall is the best mod you can get next to a power adder. Took my 60's from 2.2 to 1..78 instantly. The 2.2 was on slicks also so that should give you an idea that traction wasnt the issue, the stock converter is. My wife dropped .8 seconds in the quarter mile with just a 3800 stall converter. Its a mach one but that should give you an idea.

With a 3800 stall or higher, 373 gears, and slicks high 1.7 or 1.8 should be the norm for your 60 foots depending on weight of the car. That has been my experience anyways. I will always buy a 3800 stall as the first mod for all my cars. THey are just so nice and best seat of the pants and time difference.

No worries on the thread hijack. Always good for people to learn. Myself included.

Well,I have 27x10 15 hoosiers in my garage. But no rims to mount them on.They dont fit on the stock fan blades I have and I cannot seem to find an 8 inch wide 15inch diameter rim in the tbird pattern with out spending a crazy amount of money.

PM maddmartigan (I think that's how he spells it). I'm pretty sure he had a set made for his car that were reasonable.

Nice times paintme205.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The only bad part is im running out of options other than serious engine work. Guess its time to start saving for forged internals and cams.

Increasing the shot of nitrous is not an option. I tried one bottle for kicks before i sold it to a buddy. Didnt like paying to fill the bottle lol.

That's interesting, I run 27 X 10.50 15" Hoosiers on mine with no problem. I've got a set of 28 X 9 X 15 MT's on a set too!

That is interesting.I may have to try iit again then. When they were mounted they were sucked way into the rim. It didnt look to safe so I just determined that it wouldnt be safe. I know that size tire calls for a minimum 8 inch wide rim when you look up specs. Can you post a picture of what yours look like and how they are sitting on your rims? Thanks.

Yeah i do. Im in limbo with ideas for my car....So im working on my wifes mach 1. I want to do cams but the whole degreeing thing is making me wait.

I have some parts for a motor build but now im contemplating a big bore instead of a forged 4.6 with a 200 shot. Imagine the lack of traction i will have then!

Whats sad is that my wifes car with just slicks and a converter is faster than mine. mine weighs less and has better gearing too. It just pulls like crazy in the high rpm's.
