Whats up guys,

Been awhile....I've got an update, after pulling the old engine to add my P&P heads, we found some non-inspiring things with the old shortblock. It appeared that the old motor wasn't long for the world so we just trashed it, before it broke. Thanks to ya'll for helping me make that decision.....I wanted to see how much the old motor could take, but everyone said DO NOT do it.

Long story short though, crank had been flexing causing excess bearing wear, detonation had caused more excess bearing wear and high temps for the pistons, rings were leaking a lot of compression.....etc.

So I decided to put the new motor on the front burner and quit dicking around with the stock motor. Right now we have the shortblock assembled, the longblock should be done this week and in the car by the end of next week.

Can ya'll help me out with this. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything, so to not further delay this process (I have been without the bird for a long while).
Also, I have no clue what this should make both with boost and without.

Shortblock: stock bore and stroke explorer block, Cobra Crank, Eagle Rods, 10cc dish pistons, total seal 2nd ring package the rest moly, ARP bolts and studs throughout

Heads: heavily ported SVO heads (in the neighborhood of 230/190), Modmax one piece SS valves (stock size), Modmax spring kit, HP blower cams

Intake: mildly ported SVO intake, gasket/port matched to heads, and the lower plenum was ported a little along with the runner area the attaches to it, stock cobra TB,

Induction: Vortech T-trim, will run the 3.33 pulley during break-in....then a 2.62 (with stock crank pulley), 90 mm L-MAF, modified AFM power pipe parts to fit the T-Bird, huge S&B filter

Exhaust: JBA shorties, custom bent dual 2.5" pipe (not mandrel), no cats, double XX pipe, two 40 series flows

Fuel: intank high pressure 255 and a 190 inline both hot-wired with seperate 12 gauge lines (as per Blown46Cobra's write up on the Corral) 42#'ers, stock lines and rails (at least for now), no FMU, adjustable regulator

Driveline: Custom built 4R70W, Mark VIII torque converter, Mark VIII aluminum driveshaft, fairly stock IRS

Tuning: I know this will play a big part......but assuming we get it really really close with the EEC-tuner

Misc that may make a difference: Accel coil packs, six rib pulley drive, Ford upgraded stell tensioner, 4V oil pump with SHM gears, FRPP wires, Vortech race by-pass valve.

Of course new gaskets throughout, new water pump, chains, tensioners, one piece crank sprocket, new pulse wheel, crank key, motor mounts, Mark VIII oil pan and pickup, Lightning ACT sensor

Is there anything I have left out or stuff that will be needed for the swap (besides more fuel it will be coming soon:)) Any estimates on power???

Thanks for the help

Nate

Special thanks go out to: Dan and Max @ Five Star, KDanner and Jerry for the heads/delivery, and Seabass for the block

P.S. what's up with the old members I haven't been up with the lastest ???? How's Skwarek's car...you take down that record yet, Blake what's up with yours, KD the Bird up again? DanU have you installed the blower yet?

Well...

Austin,

Sound like a nice combo to me. Good luck with it.

Kdanner, I haven't seen him on here in a long time. He mostly hangs around the MTC forum, check there for him.

Jason S. sold his car and Richard M. bought it. So Richard M. currently owns his Vortech blown and intercooled T-Bird.

Blake stops bye from time to time, but Dan U. is an MTC only. Check for them all over there.

Take care,

A-Train

this sounds like a nice cambo but y not get a higher stall TC i know it will cost more
and about power it depends on how much boost ur going to run i am not sure how much boost the T trim is
and i am thinking low 12's easy with some drag radials or slicks

that sounds good. i agree with the converter, one of them PI converters would probably be a better idea. and mabey a MM driveshaft from dennis reinhart. just upgrades for your upgrades.

thanks guys....

I will be doing the driveline upgrade soon (TC, DS, halfshafts, new posi, and Cobra aluminum carrier), fuel must come first.

I had no idea Jason sold his car, did he lose interest, or is it one of those touchy subjects.

Pardon me for my ignorance....what is MTC?

Thanks,

Nate
