Maybe I'm the first but who cares. For along time I have heard that nobody makes a polyurethane replacement for the Lower Rear control arms! whether this is info is true or not I'm here to tell you that there is!



The PROTHANE 99-04 Mustang Cobra IRS C-ARM Bushing Kit #6-311-BL uses the same size bushings as the Thunderbird/Cougar/MarkVIII

I just pressed out mine and they are exactly the same!

Just thought I'd share that info with the rest of yah.

Also just a FYI I didnt know the Mark VIII used a Tubular rear sway bar as compared to the Solid bar the Tbird has,, savings of almost 5-10lbs!

Its good info I made note of but not sure what there is to say about it.

I've recently been looking at all the bushings under my car to see what shape they are in but don't have any immediate plans to tear the suspension apart and start replacing stuff!

Just didnt know if it was a good find or not,, but I'll tell yah what. I spent about $67 for the prothane kit for the cobra that these came in, all the rest of the bushing dont fit anything else.

I wouldnt be suprised that this info found itself on a MN12performance or SCP board being sold for $120 now.

Was just glad that I got lucky and that they fit, Prothane was no help as they wouldnt give me any dimensions of the bushings in the kit before I ordered them.

Thanks for the info! Although, I thought the mark 8 and t-bird used different bushings that were not interchangeable. I could be wrong though, it's happened before.

I'll have to check those out.

Your comment on the rear swaw bar may indeed be true, but neither of them will handle as good as the upgraded ADDCO pieces. They make a big difference in the handling and stability of the car. Just an FYI. But thanks for the heads up on the bushings. I'll have to check those out next time I tear the rear apart.

Wanted to add: I also agree that a ADDCO bar will improve the handling, but my main concern is straight line performance and taking as much weight off this heavy car as possible. Besides this car stock would outhandle anything I have now (mustang/ranger)

If i don't sell my car, count me as another person doing this this winter. Bet his would be another thing that helps dampen wheel hop too. Great find, indeed. Way to gamble on them fitting.

As for sway bars, I'm running the big ADDCO's which are REALLY heavy. I've been contemplating pulling them and seeing if I could find some place that could bend some chromo tubing to match it. I bet 20 pounds could be saved from each 1 3/8" bar without losing much stiffness (as any engineer knows) if a tube could be bent tight enough to fit in there. Probalby not possible or someone would already be doing it.

Just for the record, the ADDCO 1-1/4 sway bar was reported to make the ride noticably stiffer but not as stiff as the 1-3/8's. I put the 1-1/4 in a couple of weeks back & the handling difference is dramatic. Sliding around corners is a blast & it's not stiff at all. I can only imagine how much fun the 1-3/8's bars are. But back to the start, thanks for the info on the rear bushings. I did hear that L.M.S. sells a kit but I do not know how much but the entire kit is for the Mark or MN12 frame. I still have to put my KYB's in the front before I move on to the next projects but as was mentioned above all the supports & bushings need to be refreshed. Ed :cool:

lincoln motorsports i believe?

1 question, can the rear bar being slap on just like that with the correct bracket without stiffening the subframe? or the subframe should be weld up before putting it in?

If you go over 1-1/4", it is recomended you brace the subframes as well.

awesome now we just need poly replacements for the mark viii LCA's at the outter side where it bolts to the spindle. I have a set of MN12 bushings here and they appear to be close but I dont know if they'll fit. I would remove my current mark bushings and compare them but I greatly fear destroying them upon removal, and the only way to get replacement bushings for those is by buying an entire new LCA from Ford.

Poly spindle bushings have been available for a while now. I have them on my car. Very easy to install.
