New Rotors (JOBS DONE!)

Santa came today, dressed in his summer garb of drab brown. He left me something so that I am one step closer to having PBR calipers to stop my charging beast!

I know, I'll recieve s**t for getting drilled rotors, but they look so cool I just had to give them a shot.

Next pics will be of the rear rotors painted, then finally of the entire set mounted.

Finally got the job done! I have new PBR's and they feel great. It is incredible the difference. Pedal feel is much better and there is much less pedal travel.

Anyone wanna buy some Sport brakes in good shape? :D

Looks good.Cross drilled only crack if you do alot of hard braking and running through alot of water while they are hot.

I did some research. The holes in the rotors are.....chamfered(?) The openings are larger than the holes themselves. This is supposed to prevent cracking, and pad wear. I just like the way they look!

Congratulations. Looks great.
I've got almost 4 years on my crossed drilled rotors with ZERO cracks or problems.

You better knock on wood! Like James, I have had crossed drilled rotors for some time now... and I have not had any problems.

it really depends who makes the rotor, if you buy some aimco rotors that someone cross drilled on a machine in their basement then you are in trouble, if you buy a brand name I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine haven't cracked, they are like 4 years old and are KVR brand.

yeah, let me be the first (well, second) to say NEVER buy a set of OEM replacements and drill them, did that on one car, breaking a rotor is no fun, especially when it takes most of your front-end with it. I had a dude who builds race cars drill a set of rotors, they looked great, after I broke them in I was impressed with how they handled, but I brake hard as hell, I noticed some cracking and three days later about 1/4 of the rotor snapped off, wound up putting me into a ditch. I was just lucky I wasn't going fast and had a parts car to swap parts from. I've had plenty of friends buy pre-drilled rotors, and never had any problems, personally I like the slotted rotors, the cougar will probably be getting a set soon.

I intend to get my rotors cryo treated when I get some cross drilled/slotted 13" brakes.

So you like the dual piston setup over the slightly larger Sport setup? I was really tempted to do the conversion before I found out I had slightly larger brakes with my Sport. It stops waay waaaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than my 89, but I think it could be better. It is on par with my 2000 Grand Marquis, which has slightly larger rotors that the Sport and dual piston calipers. It also weighs a little more, is taller, a lot more suspension mush.

Yep; the dual pistons already feel better than the Sport set-up, and I think they need to be bled a little more and then they'll be even better. I should go ahead and spring for the vacuum pump. I think thats about the best way to do it.

Of course the Sport does brake a LOT better than my 97 LX did, and it had ABS.

Good looking set-up. Is that a stainless steel brake line kit? and if so, where did you get it?
