New TC on the block

I recently purchased an 88 Turbo Coupe. I got the car cause I wanted to harvest parts for my 85 SVO. However, the TC is just too nice to rip apart. Everything still works! Anyway, previous owner replaced the shocks/struts. I do have the originals, can they be rebuilt ? Thanks everyone and I look forward to learning more about this TC

Nice car! This site is geared toward the next generation of thunderbird cougar, the mn12. Yours is like the foxbody mustangs. There are sites that support those. The tc is a 2300 inline 4, with a turbo. It supposedly made more power than the 5.0 version at the time.

Welcome! Best wishes bringing the TC Back to life. You're right. That one is in great shape!

Do you also have the original rims?

Unfortunately, no I don't
If I had space I would totally have one of those. I'm always a little jealous when I see new ones popping up here.

Glad you decided to keep it as it is. I'm sure it'll put a smile on your face. :)

That must be a repaint, right? That’s insanely clean looking for metallic red 35 year old paint! Glad you’re hanging onto it, even though I like SVO Mustangs too!

Birds of a feather, MN12s are definitely related to these in their styling direction if little else, 87-88s have the same basic ARC and ABS system the early SuperCoupes had too.

My dad had two pf those, over the years; a light blue one and a black one, both 5.0's. My buddy's dad put a TC engine in his Ranger; it was hellacious!

Nice TC! I have one also.

as for the shocks, I don’t believe they can be rebuilt, I’ve been considering switching mine over to Koni’s

coolcats.net has a lot of good info on these.

Great looking Turbo Coupe! My first car was an '87 TC manual in silver. What a fun car that was! It was so advanced for its time. In some ways, more so than the SC was when it debuted. Definitely not the fastest out there, but when it came to technology, it had few rivals in its class. At least domestically.

Thanks for sharing:)

Even if the original shocks are nitrogen filled, I bet there’s a guy in a third world country that could rebuild them, they do that kind of repairs.

I have been thinking about rebuilding sc arc shocks. It would require cutting and welding and possibly adding a gas fitting. You would have to source new seals.

Difficult but not totally impossible??
Figured I'd throw this out here for ya'll
