I put this tip into a thread about tires, and at least one person thought that it would be worthy of a tech article (or at least a 'tech tip'). See what you think.......

A method for getting the optimal tire pressure (for even wearing) is to take a tire chalk (or any chalk for that matter) and draw a line across the tread, drive the car a few tire revolutions, and see how the chalk is wearing. If it wears off in the middle first, then lower the air pressure, if it is wearing at the edges first, increase the psi. Make your adjustments in 2psi increments until you achieve even wearing. With wider, low-profile tires, even 1-2 psi changes in air pressure can make a difference.
