I am looking to get a nitrous oxidie kit in my car and was wondering which company I should go for. I am leaning more towards NX, and there is no particular reason why. But if there is any difference in who I should choose let me know. And also I'm planning on running about 100shot NX setup which will be professionally done. But I was wondering what do I need to buy or replace before I have the bottle put in. Do I need a new fuel pump, etc? And the guy at the place I went to said that having a plastic intake could be a problem if I run a 125 or higher but it would cost $2,000 to replace it. I told him I'm not paying 2g's for that, but do you think it will be harmful to run my 100 shot on the plastic intake? And by the way I have a '96 T-Bird 4.6L and I have decide to hit the nitrous because I got beat in a street race by a Honda today. And I dont care what it costs, but I have to make sure this NEVER happens again. I am so embarrassed. Thanks for your help.

you want a dry kit because of the plastic manifold. with a wet kit you will have fuel puddle if you spray to soon and your intake will explode. do a seach to see some pics of grenaded intake from a wet kit that was sprayed to soon. NX is a great system but they only make wet kits. I have a zex dry kit, it for the 96-98 gt's but works fine on our cars cuz its the same engine. part # 82015 is what u want. you can find them used on corral.net for around $300. i bought mine brand new from summitracing.com for $500. Its very simple to install to, did it with my cousin in about 4 hours. I wouldnt recommend running anything more than a 75 shot without upgrading the fuel pump.

Same here. It's very easy to put in and you will see some pretty good pick up from it.

So will a new fuel pump keep ^ that from happening to my engine? I don't want a grenade in my intake, but will 100shot NX setup be a big risk?
fuel pump has nothing to do with that. an inadequate fuel pump will cause you to run extremely lean and you will destroy your motor. thats the reason we said to upgrade the pump. like i already said nx is good stuff but they only make wet kits. With a wet kit there is a very good chance you will blow your intake up. just get a dry kit, its much safer.

And as long as you will be upgrading your fuel pump, you miay as well get a big one so if you decide to add more power down the line, you won't have to drop the fuel tank and put a new bigger pump in later. 255 lph would be optimal.

I just put in a 255lph high pressure pump. Had the tank dropped, so for about $100, I figured why not, I'll need it later no matter what route I go.

It was really easy. the hardest part is getting the exhaust hangers off their mounts!

I was told that getting rid of the plastic intake would cost about $2Gs and I'm not looking to spend that much. Who makes the best Dry nitrous kits and does anyone know where in the Charlotte area of NC I can have it put on? Because Im an idiot when it comes to cars and there is no way I could do it myself.

Like everyone is saying, the dry kit is gonna be safer, but a wet kit will generally give you better gains. However IMO to get the most out of a wet kit for our cars do to the intake, you'd want a higher stall torque converter so you can spray sooner of the line but still not be spraying at too low of rpm.
I am skirting on the "edge", but I found that spraying 2500-6200rpms worked best for me.

you could get rid of it for practically free, but you'd be putting a worse flowing intake on.

well after all the trouble that his wet kit gave him (multiple air boxes, an intake) he would probably tell you a zex dry kit. im pretty sure hes changing his setup over to a dry one.
