On my 97 intake manifold, there are 2 dowels sticking up so the thermostat housing will slip over them. now on the PI manifold i have, there are no dowels. It will still line up and seat properly. Question or comments?

It does, once you start tightening it lines it up

I got leaks at first with the housing that had the large holes for the plastic intake. I made some bushings to space them (many of the retrofit kits, like the Dorman kit have these) and that helped but I didn't like the way the upper hose was pointed. I tried some offset bushings but in the end I went with nothing and just tightened up each side a little at a time to keep it straight and it seems fine, even after 10k miles and two very hot summers.
