Did a complete front suspension about 3k miles ago.

Went to fill the washer fluid and I noticed the big center nut on the strut was about 1/2 way off and the washer was loose!!!!

If I remember right it was the only nut that I didn't blue locktight or use a new nylon nut on the whole car.

I just blue locktited the nut and tightened it with a wrench holding the top of the strut with a small wrench. Measured the distance from end of strut to nut and it was the same 1.5 or so inches on both sides.

Really made me nervous so I checked every single nut I replaced.

I did swap out the stut / spring assembly on my own....

Any ideas or hopefully it should be good now...

Thanks!

Well it's supposed to be a locking nut, and you're supposed to use a new one that comes with the shock.
The new shocks do not come with nut, or at least the Motorcraft ones I bought a few years back didn't. I had the same issue with my car but it was not that the nut came loos but that the nut was not fully seated when the spring was installed.
