Would larger width and diameter tires affect my fuel mileage?

Replaced transmission...better mileage!

The Red Cougar had a transmission replacement last week, the mileage jumped to 25.98mpg from ~20 on the previous tankfull;

This is with my foot in it, looking for problems!

The rest of my information is above in this thread; this made such a big difference, I thought I'd mention it.

I bet I could bust 35 mpg if I could keep my foot under control...

I am still using the 3.73 speedo gear but I think the 3.27s only help...

Comments: Wife took a new job location that puts 50 miles per day on the car all city stop and go driving. Performance tune was giving 16.5mpg on this drive, stock tune gave 17.5mpg give or take, after 50+ iterations did 22.3mpg last tank all city on a very aggressive mileage tune (SCT software). Still tweeking the tune as well. Future mods include U/D pulleys to see if any gain there, then a 3.73 gear pumpkin is going in which should help the city mileage since her top speed is 40MPH and average speed is around 30MPH. A couple more months should see the new motor installed since this one is blowing blue smoke nearly all the time now.

City MPG: 18
Highway MPG: 26
Fuel Used: 87 octane, usually from Shell
Average highway speed: 65-75
Average Climate: PA, so anywhere from 95 degrees in summer to 5 in winter

Comments:
Only modification is the intake manifold was replaced with an aluminum crossover instead of the stupid plastic one.

Mpg drops 2or3 when making short trips in the extreme cold, probably because it takes the engine a while to warm up when its only 9 degrees outside.

95's own for gas mileage! My 95 T-Bird just got 29-30 MPG running 78 MPH, and 23.5 in the city. But my woman's 96 Cougar only gets 25-26 on the highway.

Mine get's a LOT better mileage in the summer, the hotter the better, doesnt matter if the A/C is on.

Everybody loving the winter gas this year?

My gas mileage is down ~15-20%. They must be adding a sh*tload of ethanol to the mix this year...

Anybody else seeing this, or did we just recently get in on the fun?

I'm used to a 5%-10% change, but along with $3.15/g gas, it's a drag.

I don't know yet as I haven't been driving my new tbird long at all... plus not having cruise control doesn't help. I need to hurry up and put the module back in and hook it up. Damn Bullitt Intake.
