I've become aware that my 4.6L (97) the oil level has been dropping a little too often. I don't see any blue smoke(no oil burning), and I can't see nay oil drops either, on the ground I mean.

The are behind the alternator, between the two "halves" of the engine, has a horizontal plate like thing(under the intake plenum), which seems to be wet...could that be oil?(this area/place is hard to describe)
Is there any type of oil leak that you ca'n't really see? if then. where is the leaking oil going to, if it's not on the ground?
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks.

Clean your undercarriage, under your engine, suspension, trans, etc and then go for a drive. This works even better if you can get her up onto a hoist. If it's a /really/ slow oil-leak you might not notice anything immediately...

When did the leak start? Was it shortly after an oil change?
