wtf???

have some tapping be goin on somewhere in teh pass. side head area... was told my a shop that it migh tbe the oil grade... i am running 10w30 valvoline synblend... yet we looked at an alldata TSB, and it said 5w20 was recommended grade for a number of vehicles, and it might be causing the tapping..

this sound right to anyone?? i don't want to be on hold with ford forever, or rip the valve covers off without gaskets/pi cams so i have another reason to take them off...

let me know.... tapping is annoying.. and no, can't be fuel injectors, cuz they don't tap as loud...

JD:confused: :2huh:

I will never use 5w 20 in anything I own. My understanding is that 5w20 was created to help new vehicle manufactures achieve better average fuel economy on new cars. The thinner oil helps you get something like half a mile more a gallon. The original oil for your bird was probally 10w30 or maybe 5w30. It will say in the owners manual. I think that 5w20 will be too thin to properly protect your engine.
