Somehow my battery suddenly drained so much it broke..
tried charging it for 'bout 24 hrs and the charger first started
to charge at full strength and then when I checked it the
next day it had gone into maintenance charging..
I though it was all good but after connecting it to my car
the volt meter only showed 9 volts so the battery is toast.. :(

So for those of you using Optima batteries..
Could anyone give me a part# so I can get the right one?
Got a Tudor today which only lasted about 2½ yrs...

When I touch the battery with the plus cable I get some sparks..
Not that much it feels like it's to much..
Disconnected everything I've put on there.. No change..
Same spark.. So to just make sure nothing is grounding
I'd like to disconnect the interior to see if the spark will disappear...
Anyone know a good way of doing that??
Don't want to pull every fuse inside the car...

TIA!

There are actually 3 different types of Red Tops at least. You should be fine with a Red Top.
Look at some of the online sellers for the different types. Try Jegs.com.
I have two Red Tops with the dual posts, top and side.

The thing is those batteries cost a fortune to get over here
'cause they're so [email protected] heavy and if I'm going to spend a months salary on
a battery I want the absolute best one available.. That's why I'm asking
about the yellow top.. Since I've got an E-fan I need a battery that can withstand
some deep cycles every now and then..

What I really need is a new alt 'cause the 200Amp alt I got from
Mr alternator didn't put out more than 95... and blew itself
up two times...
So this battery crash wasn't something I wanted to spend money on
but hey.. If you're stupid, you are.. :D

Anyway.. If any of you could give me a partnumber on which yellow top
that fits it would be great.. I only get one shot at this.. :(

Thanks!

I can't help you much on the yellow top, but I have a red top, and I can get the exact part number and specs off the car tonight and have it for you tomorrow.

I hope you were at least slightly exagerrating about a month's salary for a battery.

Optima does not even list part numbers on their web site.
Send them an email and ask. You can find out where you can get one also.

A Red Top really would be fine for you. They Yellow Tops are good for guys with big stereos or the off road guys running winches. Your e-fan is a low current drain compared to those, and your e-fan is only really running when the car is anyway.
I pay $100US for Red Tops at Costco and I paid about $140 or so for my Blue Top I have in my Jeep. Just for reference.

Sorry I haven't answered before... Been talking to a wonderful woman
and well.. Forgot about time and place.. :D

504Bird:
Well.. perhaps a little bit... But I checked the USPS shipping rate for
the battery I've got in it right now.. Don't know if the
Optima is heavier than a normal car batttery but they want
a whopping 310 bucks for shipping it..

For a 100 bucks battery..
Then add 29% in custom fees and VAT..
Ends up at 500 bucks.. But still cheaper..
Wanna move here? *s*
If you could get me the numbers it would be great..
TIA!

Royalblu:
I have mailed them and that was even before I posted here..
Didn't get any reply... *sigh*

Thanks for the heads up though..

Hey Per, why not try Ebay Germany?? Have seen a lot of those Optima's on there for somewhat reasonable prices and I think shipping to Sweden from Germany wouldn't break the bank for you. :) :)
BTW, over here in Holland Optima is part of the Varta company, so most of the carpartshops are selling them. Maybe this is the same in Sweden???
Just a thought...

Per,
Specifically what you want is a Red Top 34/78. This has both sets of posts on it. I got this directly from Optima.
They could not tell me who specifically you could get them from in Sweden. Have you done any checking locally at auto parts suppliers and such.
Optima used to be owned by a Swedish company.
If you still have no luck, PM me and I can give you the email and phone number for the European sales manager for Optima, he is in Hanover Germany.
The fact they have someone like that over there means they have to be selling the things somewhere over there.
