allenengine.com It is a good roots supercharger with the least amount of fabracation. No raised hood required. I recomend you purchace the upgrade from the fmu.

Kenny bell they make a whipple kit for the 96-98 mustang now that will work on your bird. BE fowarned It will require quite a bit more fabrication to work on a bird along with using mustang throttle and cruise cables and relocating the battery to the trunk and some possiable egr tube modifications. It is the perefect kit if you are looking to make big power down the road. Only buy the intercooled kit 9 psi and start saving for a forged engine. A raised cowl hood is required

vortech Lots of great top end but requires the most modifcations. Intercooling is almost impossiable and requires cuting hood and extensive modification to work.

If your using the stock motor mounts only the hood bracing requires cutting. The Vortech kit doesn't require fabrication and is a very easy install....Easier than the Allen kit I would guess. As far as air charge cooling goes: With the big 6-8 lb pulley your not going to see insane air temps. You can either custom fab an aftercooler OR go with a water injection kit which is what I'm going to do. The Snow Performance kit is relatively inexpensive and appears to be an easy install. http://www.snowperformance.net/

If you are looking for cheap thrills look at the SVO as long as you don't want to break the 300 HP barrier. Easy install (8 hours for mine) and reliable so far 30K on my daily driver

Alright then, well the 9psi kit from supercoupeperformance isn't the Whipple based race kit, it's the standard Eaton based kit. Still lots and lotsa jam, but not exactly "going all out to get every horse out of your engine you can". For a street car though, it would be the better choice between the two. If you're going with the Eaton Based kit, then the intake runners of the manifold will need to be ported to match, but AED will do that in house, for no extra cost to you.

One thing you should consider though is to spend the money right now and have the bottom end of your engine built. At 6psi, some get away with it, but at 9psi your pistons and rods are on borrowed time. Spending the money now, to do it right, can save you a lot down the road.

With the stock 95 engine and what is now called the 9psi kit the car made right around 300 at the wheels and went 12.69. With the forged engine with ported heads but stock PI cams and the M90s Allen kit pullied to make like 12psi the car made like 370 at the wheels but belt slip was a problem, this was using 42lb injectors. The car went 11.88 with that setup. The 9psi kit is still emissions legal.
The Race Kit is a tuner kit that uses the Whipple AX2300 blower, it also does not come with everything you need to make the car run. Many items need to be bought or custom made to fit the vehicle. then custom tuned on a dyno. The Race Kit is not meant to be emissions legal. Last year I was only spinning the blower in the 12-13 lb range. I've not been able to get a true RWHP number out of it as it smokes the tires on the dyno. But it takes a bunch of power to get 3950 lbs. to trap at 128 in the quarter mile.

Mike, just curious. Say we wanted to spin our Eaton past the 9psi level, but were trying to limit belt slippage. Does Ford make a larger 6-rib crank pulley which would in turn, speed up the assesories (blower included) enough, that would still allow use of the larger blower pulley, that in turn would increase belt wrap and reduce slippage?

You can install an 8-rib pulley set-up like what was used on the 5.4L trucks awhile back. There are some issues with the alternator bracket, but I know Mike Siska runs a 8-rib set-up now.

At 9-psi (which is silly to call it that) and a stock 4.6L engine, you'll most likely be using the 2.52" OD blower pulley. With the 2.52" blower pulley, you need a shorter serpentine belt (approx 110.5" long vs. the standard AED 111.8") and that's about all. A good quality belt has worked fine for me and the 2.52" pulley yields about 10 psi of boost on my engine.

Anything smaller than a 2.52" pulley, you will encounter serious belt slippage. The good news is, when you get down to a 2.25" blower pulley, you reach the upper limits of the Eaton M90S efficiency range. So you basically make more heat than useful cfm. :zbash:

So there really is no need to drop down to a tiny pulley, say smaller than 2.3" OD. Unless you are turning the car into a strip/drag race only vehicle. Then you can add parts to help cool off the ACT's. :xpwink:

Still, the belt slippage will be a dilemma.

Can you say 8-rib pulley set-up?

I've not found a Ford 6 or 8 rib crank pulley/dampner that is larger than the standard 6.75" size. But the aftermarket has stepped up and does provide them. Yes, I think going this route rather than dropping the blower pulley size is the answer. As A-Train said, I've since gone to the 8 rib FEAD. I plan on spinning the twin screw faster this year, and going with a custom dampner is how I'll probably do it.
I agree that going smaller than the 2.52" blower pulley on the M90s is a wast of time as belt slip sucks. Back when I first installed the Race Kit and dyno'd it with a 3" 6 rib setup, I was literally smoking the drive belt on the pulls. With the 8 rib and a 2.9" upper I still get a little belt dust. Now the problem is smoking the tires on the rollers, That's with two trunk monkeys sitting back there for weight.
