I found a couple orbital buffers/waxers for pretty inexpensive. Do they actually do a good job? What about getting rid of swirl marks? Waxing? Buffing out?

What are your experiences with them?

I bought the cheap-o MVP from Wal-Mart for $30.
I've waxed about 10 cars with it and it's still going strong. It's almost worth the investment.
It seems to do a better job than by hand, but it all depends on your paint and what compounds/waxes you use.
When using one, be very careful to stay away from "high points" (where the paint is thin). Always keep it moving, too.
If you're trying to remove swirl marks with a special compound, such as a 3M product, I think it could work very well. The same goes for buffing something out. Just use the right compounds and ALWAYS use a clean bonnet... don't ever let 'em touch the ground.
