So...I am sure there have been lots of posts in the past on this, but until now I never really thought about going.

November 8th I am going to be in the area going to the NASCAR races. I an ex co-worker that relocated to Phx after layoffs invited me to go. The rub is that the race on Saturday starts a 2:30, no idea when it ends, and no idea how long it will take to get out of there (it is the lower tier series, but still a strong showing of fans). So not only will be be closer to 7 pm that I would be out of there, my car will have 3 inches of dust on it, and likely other issues.

So I would like to go, and if I am going to have a reasonably looking car, or just hang out with someone I know (he has a Lightning, and if anything like the drag strip, where I had to be adopted by the ricers because I was shunned by the lightning group) I will likely be a loner again :)

So how does it work? You pretty much need to be there by 5 or 6 to get a decent spot? Do groups just show up in the same place at the same time to get together or is there a little bit of organization and grouped spots? Anyone go regularly or going that weekend?

I'm not sure where the show is or how it works but I'll show up with my crappy paint and all. Where exactly is it, Scottsdale?

Indian Bend rd and the 101.

I will be late getting there, so I don't want to make it sound like I will be there early reserving myself a spot or anything, and my car will be so dirty from the race that it will be how I get there, not parked where it can be seen :) Plus I will likely be in about the same situation, dirty and sun burned.

I would like to hang out with anyone there, I will hang around the lightning guys until I can't take the torment that I usually get from them and my 16 second car.

It looks like it is a parking lot at a mall, McDonalds provides music and there is a list of rules mainly no selling stuff or handing out fliers.

I will be in town for the Saturday and Sunday race and that is my main objective, however I would like to see the 500 to 1000 cars that usually turn up at this place, hear a lot about it never been.

It is a good ways away from PIR. I might show up for a bit, just undecided whether I wanna bring the bird with thrashed paint or my chopped up, lifted jeep. I'll look for you either way over by the lightnings.

I didn't get there until around 6:30, I was beat, the car was nasty, and I saw some pretty nice cards. A couple of blown Marauders and some nice classics. Lots of traffic and raod construction to get there from Avondale. I left around 10 pm for Maricopa to sleep for another all day at PIR race. I ended up with tickets to the stands for Sunday, I usually do the hillside.

It seems to go on every Saturday. Some weekends might be better than others.

Sounds like you had a full weekend. I don't get into the NASCAR thing but always appreciate a good race. I'll bring the bird tonight again, we'll probably get there around 5ish.

Well, I am not going up to Phoenix this weekend. If we get some people together I am not against driving up, I took both my Cougars up there for a meet (but I would stick to one this time).

It happens EVERY Saturday.

Basically it looks like if you have a club and want a section you need to call ahead and "reserve" a section. The night I went it looked like the BMW owners did that.

There were lots of nice classics, and a bunch of sleepers that you had to look real hard to see what made them special (like an ls1 powered 240z). Not just show cars, mainly clean daily drivers or weekend cars, big groups of motorcycles coming and going, and of course the 8 Neons buzzing in at once, booming stereos, then buzzing out.

Can't do it this Saturday, the band has a gig on the other side of town. If anybody wants to show up, it's at Libations at 67th Ave and Bell. I'm in the first band, Flying Monkey Demons. We go on at 9:30.
