I've helped one of the mustang guys that didn't shim correctly using the key grinding technique, and it shifted during races. I showed him the moroso cam gears I'd bought, and he was using those and a new set of cams next time I saw him. 4V engines sound excellent with a lope. :)

Making progress. Car is almost finished at paint. I’m going Monday morning to reassemble everything. Have new headlights and corners going on at that time. Once it’s home I’ll pop on the new wheel tire combo. We powdercoated my ADR Kasai wheels i bought back in 2004. Also a new set of Yokohama YK 740 tires.
Then I’m going to put it on the lift and take the engine out the bottom and lift the car. That should keep the paint safe.

I bought the wheels from Brad Storey 18 years ago. Been on my daughters Mark 8 for a decade. They were in nice shape, a little bit of curb rash. The powder coater fixed all the blemishes. I'm happy with them.

4v does sound good with a lope, but for power production a lope is not desirable.

On a 4V that’s actually true, any cam or LSA that’s producing lope on a 4V is just dumping hydrocarbons and compression. You want overlap and it’s lopey side effect on a 2V (any 2V, OHC, pushrod etc) so the exhaust draws the in air fuel charge through the small shrouded valve openings while both valves are open, that’s why longtube headers are desirable as they’ll increase scavenging and draw the most of the intake charge into the cylinder. On a 4V that’s a mostly moot point, as there is little to no cylinder shrouding with the two intake valves, the intake charge doesn’t have to overcome that restriction and consequently not many aftermarket cams for them produce much of lope unless they were degreed that way by the builder(and are likely leaving power on the table if it’s pronounced).

That shade of green looks great!
The color was custom mixed when the car was painted 2 years ago. However the painter at the time tinted the sealer teal. Which made the car a touch more blue. And the reason we are doing this again is that he under sprayed the lower part of the car, and you could see through the finish. So the shop is doing it over for us. This time the current painter sealed the car black. Which has the green darker. Which is what we wanted in the first place.
