Who said you needed to get a new one? Why not cut the basterd? I did. never had a prob!

a mallet worked for me. I hit it so much it bent and broke off sideways, then I had to use a screwdriver to pop out the remains.

You need to get the newer style one so you can attach it to the PI coolant tube that's part of the swap. And it's a lot of work to cut it apart when you can just slide an 11/16" socket over it and hammer the puppy out.
