Wanted to ask this question. What is the reasoning behind going with a windsor head?

Its really not very hard, just make sure you get all the right parts. If i could do it again i would probably go with romeo heads but at the time i could only find Windsors so thats what i went with. Not too big of a deal to use Windsors, you need different valve covers and different bolts for the timing cover.

PM me if you have any Q's

Yes the Romeo heads are still available. I believe they stopped making the Windsor at one point. The Windsor were supposed to have a slightly more agressive Cam but not much. They also have less threads for the spark plugs and have been known to blow out - the Romeo's dont have this problem.
You will probably only need Heads, Intake Manifold, Head changing Kit, Water pump nipple, and Heater bypass tube to do the actual swap .. anything else is extra. A new dipstick tube comes with the head changing kit. If you buy the heads new, you also need the oil plugs.

why not just do the intake swap for now, just so you can get your car up and running in the meantime?

or if you're really serious about doing an engine or PI head/cam/intake on the stock NPI block, and need help, im available for hire the last weekend of march/first week of april when im on vacation :D

depends if it's done properly.....that was my first real major mod to the car....of course back then before i knew any better i used NPI gaskets and RTV'd all 8 intake ports..........now, i would go with the RTV-method at the water ports (using PI gaskets) and let it cure for a day before bringing it back to life......un-tuned you'll pick up maybe 10 rwhp....close to 15 rwhp if tuned

Ok I don't mean to steal this topic from anyone but from what I gathered from this post I can put a PI intake on my NPI motor using PI gaskets and RV-ing around water ports?

I am new to the whole 4.6 game and I have a 94' Cougar with a 4.6 obviously....so I just want to make sure I get this right or will there be more work involved for me?
