Well, i think i've found my next car. A 2001 ZX2.........Please try to take it easy on me. I'm only thinking for fuel economy since i'm going to be traveling almost a 1000 miles every other month coming home from charlotte next year. And there are some pretty cool things you can do to a zx2. I'm not going to make it a ricer. There are some good exhaust that make it sound decent, and some nice body kits.

but a 01+ zx2 costs how much? if you buy it, it will cost you more than youd save on gas.... plus youll hate such a slow car after being used to tbirds.

Dude, when I went from Port Charlotte (my hometown) to Charlotte NC a couple of months ago, my Cougar averaged 29 mpg with me driving, 30 with my sister driving. This on a car in much need of a tune-up. You can get respectable highway mileage in an MN12. My best friend from high school has had an '02 ZX2 for the past two years, and it's a decent car I guess, but I can pretty much guarantee you you will regret ditching the cat for a ZX2.

I have until the spring to think about it. From what everybody has said, i'm probably going to look for a 96-97 4.6 T-Bird first, then if i can't find a decent one with low miles, i'll go for the zx2. Thanks everybody!

And of course, if you do have bird, or cat, and run into issues here in NC, you can always look us up, there are a few of us in the charlotte area that are always willing to help.

dude, dont get rid of your car. if gas worries you, dont sweat it, charlotte has fairly cheap gas. the 76 station right next to school, the 76 station in Harrisburg and the AMACO station are all cheap. Besides if you are living on campus you probably wont be spending alot of money on gas, just on the way home to ohio. keep da car.

You gotta keep the Cougar! It's really not worth selling any MN12 for what little most of them sell for.

If you do still need a cheap ZX2, let me know. I can get them super cheap in SC. My grandfather buys them barely wrecked and fixes them. I am driving a 98 Escort Sport with 50k miles for $2000. He put all Ford parts on it and painted it. Can't even tell it has been hit. And it gets 26city/38hwy mpg.

Seriously, hang on to the Cougar and PM me if you need cheap transportation (or anyone else for that matter)!

Honestly, the Zetec isnt great on gas, and what a chick car...damn, if you want a zetec ford, get a focus. On second thought, dont get a focus, find a nice V8 t-bird, you'll get just as good or better gas milage than the 3.8
