i notice alot of threads concerning a/c and overheating/cooling problems. i think we should have a forum focusing on these two areas. what do you guys think? if its too much of a hassle to put together, then delete away.

i agree. some 3.8/5.0 cooling problems solving are useful to 4.6/5.4 and vice versa. easier to search also just like the exhaust forum.

Here ... here...

I agree. I've seen some GREAT information listed, only to have to try to remember the exact combination of words to search. I work with databases for a living, so if I have trouble with a search, it's time for more normalization, or a different filing system. In english: I think it's a great idea.

Silly me but I thought the engine forums covered that?
That and everything else under the hood. Using that logic.... maybe the front suspension and tires should be under engine also....

He has a point, sort of. The thing is, is that everyone on here has A/C, or the car did when it was built. It is a common things on cars that are getting as old as ours. A climate control forums might be a good idea, it will prob get much more use over the TC forum.

we have engine forums cuz we have questions that are engine specific. a/c is almost the same on our cars, and most of us have a/c problems, with similar ways of fixing the problems. same goes for heating and overheating problems.

Yea that's true. I think maybe sub-forums would be a better idea IMO.

I haven't gotten a check yet. You sure you sent it to the right place? Should have been here almost 2 weeks ago (if you sent it first class mail)
Anyway you could check to see if the check got posted to your account? Would be pretty ghey if someone jacked it.

Yeah, there are quite a few A/C and cooling threads here right now. You know why? It's freakin JULY! We get a larger than normal number of cooling threads EVERY summer. Having an A/C & Cooling forum is no more appropriate than having a Snow Driving forum would be in the winter when we have all kinds of people wondering about snow tires and weight.

if it got jacked, no biggie. im not gonna fret over ten bucks. ill check my account. got paypal? pm me an address.

bill, i also notice threads about heating problems, all year long even. if its too much of a hassle to gather all the a/c, cooling, and heating threads and throw them in a forum, then i understand. i just think that a new forum will help refine our searches, so we wont have to sift through a general tech search. a new forum could also reduce the number of new threads that are created.

and wouldnt snow tires be classified under the wheel/tire forum? ;)

Great idea Sir Will, are you going to start that Winter Driving forum before the winter gets here?? That way we can stock up on supplies before the rush hits.

Oh come now don't be a t00l...

Hey why not have a window group or a electrical group too. Why not just break it down to cover everything?
Not trying to be a t00l Heavy Metal. If there are enough things to be categorized for search, then a category should be considered. Look at the advise we give most people: do a search! So what do I search?

A/C
AC
Air Conditioning
Climate Control
Semi automatic Climate Control

and whatever else.

Then... where do I search?

General Tech
Engine 3.8 & 4.2
Engine 4.6 & 5.4
Engine 5.0 & 5.8
Interior
Audio / Electronics

If it is too much to break out what may be a larger subject, then don't do it. I think there is merit in it. Too often we disagree for the sake of disagreeing, without looking into the potential merit of a proposal.

If the idea is going to be dismissed, then close this thread, don't allow anymore opinions and let's move on.

But... this is possibly the beginning. These cars are getting older, people are learning more to do, technology is moving on and accepting the 4.6. There will be more topics, until you have so many that the forums become convoluted. Paradigm shifts. Remember, just a coupl of years ago, on this very site, I read that it was not practical to put a turbo charger on a Thunderbird. Imagine if someone here didn't insist on refusing to believe everyone else.
