First, allow me to express my, condolences, on the new tccoa design:eek: :D
:uppoint: :uppoint: :uppoint:

Now.. Both my driver, & now passenger seatbelts are not operational. The passenger will occasionally move half way back to the rear, then stop & go forward again. I removed the limiter switch from the front of the track on driver's belt to see if it worked, and it clicked when I pressed it, implying proper function.

So basically, who has had XPerience with these belts & what was necessary to fix them? When I tried turning the knob on the motor drivers side to wind the belt buckle back, I could only turn about 4 times until it became much too hard.

Thanks in advance! :)

When my driver one went to crap, just got it in the 'back' position and turned the motor off. I haven't had any intention of fixing it either because I personally didn't care for them. I've considered trying to swap seatbelt pieces from a newer T-Bird just to get rid of the auto shoulder belts.

the power seatbelts are a bad idea from the start. Most people don't wear the lapbelt with the power seatbelt, and that is dangerous in a crash. I did the same thing as melon in my 90 tbird, only I had to force the belt to the back position before i could shut off the motor. I really prefer the regular seatbelts in my 95.

there are sensors in the doors, replace them, are you getting a DOOR ajar light when the doors are closed? Is it chiming? If it is, it is probably that damn sensor...

I had a 95 Escort with those damn things. Both sides were dead, and I did what Melon did. Seems like you get an insurance discount if your car came equipped with them.

Hello. I currently have no doorajar light or chime after closing the doors. Where are these sensors located? I attempted moving the belt buckle back both by turning the motor knob & trying to pull it, but it won't move.

Most people I know do not like the power seatbelts. However, I actually prefer them over the regular ones, in my opinion they are more confortable and I like nearly any electronic option. It seems they last forever on well maintained cars.. but sometimes slight abuse can damage them.

Thanks for the info so far, if you know anything else let me know!

yea, one of my friends just manually moved them back to position and disconnected the power to the motors. mine in my 90 bird worked just fine all the way till the day it died. and i always wore the lapbelt too.. i actually liked them. -greg

well.. mine never stopped working, the car stopped working. in my friends car, the driver belt jsut stopped going back, and the passenger one would work every now and then. so he just pulled them back and unplugged them. i guess the only that matters is that they are on correctly. -greg
