my power steering lines are leaking and well i'm not sure if the lines can be replace ( i believe these are high pressure lines...) or am i gonna have to replace the whole unit (the rack & pinion)? any thoughts? any temporary fixes??

take it to a shop.

mine blew less than a month ago and i only had to replace the o rings or something like that. it only cost me $40 and they checked for the leak, my rack & pinion and they even filled it with ps fluid homie. it's worth the money for the piece of mind of having a good mechanic around.

well here's the deal. if its a v6 fix it yourself. but here's the trick

remove the alternator and the whole ps pump braket. there will be one bolt that's a HUGE PITA. it's right behind the PS pulley. just never put it back in, nobody does. after that you will have PLENTY of room to replace both lines. if your going to replace the high pressure one, might as well replace the low pressure return line too.

you'll only have to replace the lines, not the rack and pinion.
