Alright I blew my power steering pump. The rod that holds the pulley on completely snapped! How often does that happen? I will post pictures later on today! I just find this completely odd. care only has 58k on here.. Also anyone else have problems removing the nuts and bolts from the damn thing?

In 20+ years of working on cars as a hobby, I have never heard of the power steering pump shaft breaking!!

Even if the pump seized, the worst that should happen is that the belt would slip and make very bad noises!

Have you R&R’d the pulley for any reason in the past? If not, it must have been a structural fault from the manufacturer.

Interesting. :2huh:

i'm 90 percent sure that you need a pulley puller to pull that pulley off.

Never heard of that happening before either.

Hard to tel from the pic, but if that's rust on part of the shear surface, this means that there was a crack in the shaft a long time before it sheared. You see this a lot where a crack propagates slowly before the part fails.
