How can I tell if my car has variable assist power steering? I need a power steering pump and don't know which one to get.

As far as I know, all Super Coupes had VAPS.

The way to be certain is to look for an electrical connection at the power steering pump.

Thank you Brandon. This looks like it is going to be a real pain to replace. But it has to be done. when turning the wheel at idle it drags on the engine so hard that it nearly stalls.

Hmm... first things I'd do with that symptom is check/flush the power steering fluid, make sure the suspension is in order (no excessively worn components) and be sure the rack itself isn't causing the excessive drag.

I agree, drain fill and bleed before you replace anything, and lube up your suspension
