Yesterday morning my dad had a pretty significant stroke. He was rushed to the hospital and is in intensive care. The stroke has taken some of his speech, vision and right side movement. Long term, he may have significant disability. The man is 65 and was planning on retiring toward the end of this year/early next year. It is so hard seeing a wonderful and caring man who gave you life and so much more lying helpless in a hospital bed. If you believe in God, please drop him a line for my family.

Thanks

Hey, I feel for ya. I just had a great uncle have a stroke just a couple of weeks ago and he didn't make it. He was a great man and I thought greatly of him. My prayers are with your dad. Hope he gets better soon.

I recently lost my Dad unexpectedly. I know the feeling of being lost and afraid. You feel helpless and wonder, WHY? There is no answer, except to say that you and your Dad have the support of your family and friends. I wish him luck in his recovery and I offer my prayers.

I'm sorry to hear that about your Dad.

Heavenly Father, we thank for this day and the joy of knowing You personally. We thank You for Your goodness and how You are able to take situations that seem so horrible to us and bring out of them something wonderful. We pray for healing, that dammage be treatable, and that You guide the doctors and nurses that they would be able to find, report, and correct any dammage that may be overlooked. We pray that family would be strengthened through this, and that You, ulitmately, would be glorifed. I pray this situation be a testimony to You, Lord, and the family be amazed at how smoothly and peacefully they get through this crisis. I pray the family be able to rest, to think clearly in order to make decisions, and to find joy in taking time to sit, reflect, and spend time with a hurting loved one. In Your name I pray, the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord, my Saviour, my Redeemer, Amen.

I'll put your Dad on our prayer list at church. You will have a lot of folks praying on your family and your Dad's behalf.

Brian

Very sorry to hear about your dad. But please, if nothing else, don't give up or lose hope. My great-grandmother suffered a stroke when she was 83 and still VERY lively. The doctors, specialists, etc said there was NO chance of her walking again, no chance of her talking clearly if at all, pretty much they told everyone to prepare for her to be in a vegetative state. Well, after several months of rehab, she was right back to her old self. It wasn't an easy road, but she pulled through, fooled them all, and lived to be 90 years old. Hopefully, the same is the case with your father. Best of luck, you're in our prayers.

I really hope all turns out well. I'll pray for him. My Dad went through a heart attack and a five way bypass, then a pacemaker. It's been about five years now and he is doing well. I took care of him when he was first out of the hospital. Those are great memories. Stay close to him and give him your time. Both of you will cling to those times, hopefully for a long time to come.

Any updates?
Tomorrow they're moving him from the hospital into a rehab facility. He is talking much better since the brain swelling has gone down. Still, not moving his right side much and some of the things he says don't make sense. We're keeping a positive outlook!
