Going to change all the oils and fluids this weekend...

There's just one thing I need to now before I
order everything...
The gasket in the rear of the pumpkin...
Is it okay to order any gasket for a 8.8" Ford pumpkin
or are ours different since it's an IRS pumpkin... ??

Thanks!

There was no gasket installed from the factory, Ford doesn't even sell them. Just use some good quality RTV sealer.

Really..? No gasket???

Strange...
Well I've got a large tube of gasketmaker
from Loctite.. When I bought all the stuff I actually got a
Felpro gasket for an 8.8 inch Ford rear...
Not sure if it fits though..

Thanks a lot for your help!

When I said "Ford", I was referring to their regular replacement parts division. Ford Racing sells one that is supplied by an aftermarket vendor. :)

Thanks for your help!

No problems in using the new gasket...

HOWEVER!
It took me 5 hours to get the U shaped holder off...
I've been working on cars up to 35 years old but I've never
found anything that stuck!
:D :D :D
I mean, ususally they do loosen a bit when you
heat it with a blow torch...

Ended up cutting the bolt...

Well... There's a new one on there so everybody's happy...

My mount was also very much seized on there. I sacrificed a 12"+ new Blackhawk ratchet, a socket, and then finally the bolt itself broke. Garage still smells like gear oil. mmmmm
