I'm just wondering why no one seems to be using aftermarket valve bodies in our cars?? I've been told that you can buy an aftermarket VB that also gives full manual shifting for a 4r70w and it only costs about 250 USD. Is this true?? and if so why isn't everyone and their momma all over these things???

I remember reading that one person here had tried a manual valve body, or was considering it at least. I don't think most people care for an automatic that you have to shift yourself though. I was considering it.

I have one in my AODE. I know it's now the same as the 4R70W but it's cool. My experience with it: remember my shift indicator (1 D O/D N R P) no 2nd. To get second I have to tag the D once I get to around 2500rpms then back to 1st to get 2nd gear, I don't think you'll have to do that. My car also drops back down to 1st if I'm still in 2nd when my car drops to 1000rpms. You guys shouldn't have that issue. Other than that it's on! I really do like it.

If that's in your '93 you have an AOD, not an AODE, and is the standard shift pattern for all AOD's. Ford never put an AODE in a TBird.
