In a bid to remove as much weight off this car as possible, I cut away at a chunk of my dash and have been digging into it.

One box that I have yet to identify is this red module that is mounted horizontally underneath my heater/ac blower unit.

Can one of you tbird experts identify it for me? I tried looking through my service manual but haven't gotten any promising matches (I've already identified and removed the airbag diagnostic module aka the vertical blue box since I've already removed the airbags.

Chime module?

That's about where mine is, anyway, in the 1991.

BTW, looking at the manual about the cruise control system makes me believe that I can also remove the cruise control servo from under the driver's side front fender.

If I do remove this module, all I need to do is block off the two vacuum hoses on the engine, right (according to my manual, one goes to the intake manifold and the other to a distribution block of vacuum points between the engine and the firewall.

Q: Am I correct in this reasoning (removal of the cruise control servo will NOT affect the normal driving of the car since it's a manual linkage)?

Q: Do you guys have any suggestions on the best way to plug a vacuum line? A quick search online suggests vacuum caps (cost money), screws with silicone, and just rerouting the hose.

Is there any reason why I can't just cut the hose and run one opening and connect it to the other (vacuum to vacuum)? if not, I'll just use the screw + silicone method (it's free).

I would probably use a small bolt or screw threaded into the end.

So, I'm a bit OCD so I couldn't resist going down into my garage.
I have a 1995 Ford Thunderbird LX and the 1995 Ford brand service manual.

From what I understand from the manual, the servo control should have the following connections:
* electrical connector (goes to the front near the radiator support)
* Throttle cable (goes to the throttle)
* One vacuum connection that goes to the engine bay
* One vacuum connection that goes into the firewall (presumably according to the manual to connect to the speed control dump valve at the top of the brake pedal).

On page 10-03-18, the vacuum hoses on the 3.8L engine go to some kind of vacuum junction box from the "speed control actuator" and the line from the servo presumably goes to the intake manifold.

Well, when I looked at my car, I found all the same connections (vacuum line to firewall, throttle cable line, electrical harness line) EXCEPT the vacuum line that goes into the engine bay plugs straight into the brake booster.

Q: Are such discrepencies between the car/service manual normal?

Was there some kind of mid-year change or something that would account for a missing vacuum junction box looking thing that sits between the engine and the firewall + a different vacuum routing?

Either way, it's another mini-project for me (cruise control removal). The servo looks like it weighs a few pounds.

Looks like you have nice old stang to.
That rust bucket is another team members. I honestly think the paintjob is what's holding that thing together.

I originally tried to get him to consider selling that car to me for Lemons but for some reason he claims it has sentimental value. :)

Big Brother doesn't need a box to watch you! Ever used Google Earth? If that's available to us "civilians", think what Big Brother has access to!

I'm just saying. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't really watching you!

The other day I was fixing the recirc door and I came across this connector. What's it for?

Maybe that's the plug that disables the speed limiter, lol.
