i'm in the process of putting my engine back together, after my heads got screwed up, and i'm replacing the cam sprockets....the ones that i got from O'Reilly don't seem (to me, at least) that they will work.

the stock sprockets have a really deep-cutting "key" that bites into the camshaft, but the replacements only grab the groove on the shaft by about 2 - 3 mm. is that sufficient to keep them from shearing off the "key" on the replacments under hard acceleration?

everything on my car is currently stock

That's normal and it will work fine just be sure to tighten them to the recommended
torque. ( 80-90 FT LBS I think )
