Are the B&M trans coolers supposed to be used alone or as an additional aid to radiator cooling? I noticed my mechanic hooked mine up so it cools the fluid after it comes out of the radiator.

Depends on who you're talking to I guess.

Some people get larger coolers and bypass the radiator all together, others (myself included) use it for additional cooling tied in after the radiator.

Either way is an improvement over stock. A larger cooler will be sufficient to be run by itself, and that would likely keep the fluid the coolest, since the radiator is running around 200 degrees when the engine is warmed up.
