Besides the 'PI' Heads in the 99 and newer GTs is there a real difference in the two cars. I know the rear gears are a little smaller in the 98. But the transmission and major eneing components are the same. What can be done to equal the power of a 99 GT. Would it be 'PI' Heads, Bullitt intake, cold air induction and 3.73 gears...? Cause really it's the same engine. I had my eyes set on the limited Ed. LSC but the miles are a factor and I'm looking for a manual tranny. So a low mile 98 GT is my next vehicle. As soon as I pay off my 97 T-Bird it's going to be for sale, maybe as early as sept. or oct. ASking price is going to be 8,250/offer. Well I'd appreciate if anyone could let me know about these differences. Unless I find a dirt cheap 99 GT a 98 is just fine. Or a 97 Cobra LOL.....THanks I can be reached at [email protected]

In 99 the auto trans got a new main control, and (i think) a mechanical diode.

Grab some PI heads and intake, put them on your shortblock, and you'll have MORE power than a 99GT after a good tune.
