Hello, im installing a pi intake and was wondering could a 2003 explorer aluminum crossover could swap over onto a 99 gt pi intake?

i got a 03 pi intake off an explorer on ebay and found the heater hose in the back of the manifold different than our cars. i also have a spare pi intake off a 99gt but it has the plastic crossover so i was wanting to swap the aluminum x-over onto the gt intake.

yes

EDIT:

Just saw sCrEaMiN BiRd post.

Why would you want to swap the alum-x-over on another plastic PI intake, they are the same, just the explorer has the alum-x-over. Just toss the 99 GT plastic-x-over and swap the explorer intake.

I'm unsure about what your asking here. Your wording is very hard to understand.... From what i understand you have an 03 explorer PI intake (w aluminum x over) and you also have a 99 GT PI intake (w plastic x over)? If that is so you can't put the aluminum crossover on the plastic PI intakes. You can switch aluminum crossovers amongst the NPI or PI intakes that originally came with an aluminum crossover but you CANNOT switch an aluminum crossover onto a plastic crossover intake PI or NPI....

I have a 99 GT intake in my garage and the crossover is composite and part of the rest of the intake - it is not removable. You can switch the aluminum crossovers between the PI and NPI, but the gaskets are not obtainable. Some people have done that because the NPI has the second coolant temp sensor already there near the thermostat.

The plastic crossovers can't be removed unfortunatley. PI intakes with aluminum crossovers are usually easy to come by anyways. Check corral.net

i think he also means that because the explorer pi intake doesn't have the rear coolant hose available for connection to allowed coolant flow so that's why he wanted to use another intake with the rear coolant hole available.

so there is no use for him to get another pi intake from explorer engine.

as i recall from some research i did a while ago...i remember the difference between the xplorer pi and stang pi is that the rear is a female instead of a male fitting...the crossover tho, you want one from the explorer as it has two pre-taped temp sensor holes....

mustang intake

xplorer intake

and xplorer x-over
