Such a thing exist?

I am going to do gears in my 94 cougar, thinking about exhaust, but, I don't want to hear a thing in the cabin.

Is it possible to have a performance exhaust and have absolute silence?

2 1/4 pipes true dual, 2 high flow cats, turbo or quiet chambered mufflers at the rear(dynomax, thrush, flowmaster delta flow 50 series) it dosent have to be loud to scavenge well

might check the official exhaust clips thread under exhaust. I ran 2 high flow cats
3" single and a crossflow style turbo muffler with dual outlets once and it sounded like a stock f-150. An I had the lopey idle due to aftermarket cams. Yoyu could only hear the lopey idle if you were real close to the rear of the car.

Anyone have clips of what these souynd like in the cabin?

I want as quiet as stock or I am not going to bother, also, gains?

Car is being built for stereo, 4.6 isn't worth the money to make it fast, I could buy a focus and spend the same money and get the same numbers on the 1/4

Its not going to be as quiet as stock. However, cats with a mid-mount magnaflow and 2 Borla XS muflers is nice and quiet. I dont like loud exhausts, and I am very pleased with the sound level on it. As far as gains go, its hard to say. The SOTP meter picked up a bit of a change. Keep in mind the more stuff you put in the way of the exhaust gasses, the more backpressure you're going to create.

Heres my question: If the car is being built for stereo, you dont think its worth it to mod it for speed, and you want it as quiet as stock.... why dont you just stay with the stock exhaust? Seems like alot of trouble for nothing to me.

the gears I understand (believe me ;) ), but with what you've said regarding what you want out of the car, and what you would want out of the exhaust system, it just sounds to me like sticking with the stock setup might be best:zdunno: maybe look into more driveline mods instead, like a converter and J-mod. Just thinkin' out loud.

Stereo is heavy, hince gears.

Would you drive your car if it weight in at 4500+ pounds and ran 3.08's out back?
yes, yes I would....actually, my t-bird weighs 4950 lbs, and has 2.75's out back...and has a heavy system in it(the above weight is without the stereo)...

How the hell does it push nearly 5,000 pounds w/o stereo? They are about 3800#.

I've got a '99 Mustang GT with the 4.6 and 4R70W and they -mustang forum guys-that a catback is worth 3-4whp. I have a nice drone at 2K with my PYPES catback. Dynomax mufflers are going in, Ultraflows, noisier probably but I have found that silencing tips that do not go down in size help quite a bit and must not restrict much at all. I'd take the cadillac quiet and max performnce but it doesn't work that way, always a compromise.
I saved my stock stang system and it looks like mandrel bends to me and I'd be glad to put it abck on if I had a PYPES buyer!LOL, mark

Focus same in 1/4?
Pull up the 1/4 times and look.

I had a focus and I had no probs keeping the nose on my brother's bumper, both cars also had work done to them.
