What do you guys think I should be running through quater? My mods are listed below. Do you thing removing my precats and getting Mil eliminators would help? Oh yeah my cousin is getting a 1997 Honda=gay Prelude with a 2.2 he says it has 192hp and goes through the quater in14.9. Is he bsing me. At least his brother is cool,he has a 1994 Cougar with a 3.27 , AWESOME stereo, a a freshly cleaned MAF (I did it for him), removed Intake Silencer, (I did it for him) no resonater/3rd cat and 12in glasspacks. We have races on our airport runway but we don't have timing or anything we just have a guy wathing to see who won. Yeah I know:rolleyes: But I can beat his Couagar and we both stomp the local rice. But what do guys think about my quarter mile times and teh rice burner. Sorry if I'm going on and on I'm bored. Thnaks.

I'm gonna say the best your gonna run is about a 15.4-8 @ about 86-89 Mph... depending on a lot of factors.... The prelude is rated @ 200 or so HP What it has at the wheels should not be too far off from that.... I've seen Stock Preludes run 14.9 before... ( very few ) most I've seen run low 15's Lower than 15.4 however.... I almost bought a new prelude about 2 years or so ago..... I pulled off the lot and with 3 grown men (200lbs avg...) in the car got a huge wheel on the 1st-2nd shift.... :) brought a smile to my face..... they are not slow...even the stock ones.... I fixed the shifting problem in my tbird :) It always brings a smile to my face now....

Watch out for the giant speed bump at the end! I read about some local guys who raced crotch rockets on an empty runway at night and they hit the speed bump at the end (made to stop airplanes by the way so it's big) and they both died. Next time run down the runway watching the odometer and stop at quarter mile, then mark it, have your buddy stand there and hit the stop watc when you go by. rough estimate I guess.

Welcome to the world of Tbirds... I was really dissapointed when I finally took mine to a strip and got a time slip.. It was made even more depressing by the altitude here in denver. But hey for half what they spend on a new Prelude you can have a kick *** bird that is infinitely more comfortable... Just my opinion though :)

1/4 mile times are not that big a deal anyway. Think of it, your car weighs in at about twice as much as his does. And ganted that little 4 banger sewing machine can produce some juice, but it is all just numbers. add 500 lbs more to his car and your torque will show what it is worth. Besides a few mods and still for less than half the price have a big torquey motor that will make his ricer look like a pile of Lada. Besides once he adds 200 lbs of gfx and another 200lbs of stereo equitptment, see who can take who. Is he running a stick? Also that will make a big difference. Also remember the T-bird was never a sports car, it was a cruiser. Getting these big *** cars to that level of performance is not easy, but can be done. Hell save your pennies get a 99+ pi, supercharge it, and watch his tears well up as you cruise on by at 350 horse, if by the end of the day he is not singing the American National anthem in respect of the car, we put him in a big box and mail him to Japan, out of sight out of mind. I have lots of stamps if you need some. :)

That one I might give you, the SC was a killer machine, but regarless she was pretty pudgy. We are talking near 2 tons of car, with the driver. The bonus the SC had was all the torque that engine could produce. 315ft-lbs of torque is nothing to shake a stick at. I mean more along the line of power to weight ratio. I had an 87' escort gt at one point, juice that like 1.9 ho to about 230 engine horse. Mind you it only lasted for about 2 years the way I drove it. Now the SC was 210 in the early years, but give her 20 extra horse and my 'Scort still would have slaughtered it. The power, although ample, is made more for cruising than a 1/4 mile clock. And as I am starting to notice, this independant suspension is going to kick serious booty when I am done with it. But I digress, power to weight my friend. The prelude weighs what, maybe 2800lbs at the most?. our cars have what 3500 or so. Just does not make a killer Quater mile car. The strengths we have come from a) huge engine cavity b) low, wide profile, c) IRS d) imagination and determination to not be the next ricer wanna be's. They may be old, and tired, but they're ours. :) And I would not trade this bird for all the hondas in the western hemisphere. Rust included.

I'll second that motion! It may not be a light car, but it sure is a h*ll of a ride.

I ran a 2001 VTEC prelude a few years back, when my main mods were exhaust, a bit of intake, the chip as well as some other small stuff. I weighed in at 800lbs more, yet still beat him by .1. To make matters worse for him, my transmission gave out three days later. Of course, I'm at least 2.5 seconds faster in the 1.4 now days. Still, from that build you describe, you'll more then likely loose.
