I have a 93 LX 3.8 and when i bought it the guy said the trans had been rebuilt about a year ago, now i notice that when i get on the gas (pedal on the floor) the RPMs soar to 4,000 and stay there for a good 3 seconds and then it kicks down, I don't think this is normal but then again i could just be acting paranoid, if this is not normal any ideas as to why it's doing this?

Thanks

If you're going to 4000 at a standing start, you are not going to have a working tranny for long - sounds like line pressure is low, or not coming up fast enough to hold clutches, which are slipping and heating up like mad. A gauge on the line pressure port should tell the story.

What should my line pressure be, and what would cause it to not come up fast enough. I'm going to take it to a local trans shop today and have them put a line pressure guage on it and get the readings from them,

Thanks
