Piece of cake. There is a "plate" on the back of a 4.6L that unbolts that holds the rear seal.

Just remove the bolts, pull it off, put in the new seal, and reinstall the plate. I think it's only 6 or 8 small bolts.

You have to put a bead of RTV around the plate so it doesn't leak, but that's about it.

(I think the manual says to press the new one on using a special tool, but I think removing the plate is much easier)

But as a disclaimer, I've never done it. :D
