I got a trans dapt remote oil filter kit from summit racing. Has anyone used that brand and what filter should be used for it? Thanks in advance.

Did you have a problem getting it to seal on the block? how did you tighten it?

I tightened it the first time with a bar. When I took it off to be relocated to the new car, the hollow stud came out of the engine instead of the adapter coming off of it... On this install I just made it hand tight, like you would a filter. No leaks to date.

If any thing you need to put a little blue thread locker on the Stud part. Then when you take off the filter you get the filter not it plus the stud. Did this on my Turbo coupe haven't had a problem with it since.

So your stud was coming out of the block when removing a hand tightened oil filter?

Mine is somewhat in the same spot, I took out my foglights and mounted it right around there so it can get some cool air, I have only changed the oil once since then and I have just enough room to do so.

Ok, new problem. I put threaded the hoses into the remote fitting too tightly and cracked it. So I bought a new fitting, and am in the process of putting the new system on. I've got it all mounted and done, but i'm not getting any oil pressure. the first time it happened I thought I had reversed the hoses, so I switched them. Still no pressure showing. So just are the hoses routed? The fittings are positioned on the kit so that one is centered, and one is offset. Is it offset to offset - center to center? Or is it offset to center, center to offset? Need this done in a hurry! I've got one hour to finish it up

EDIT: LOL OK, never mind. I found the answer FROM MYSELF on another thread. Chalk it up to age... :D Its working, got oil pressure, alls good. Just gotta get it all buttoned up and make sure the hoses aren't rubbing anything like... ohhh.... tires!!

One suggestion- having had a remote filter on my '96 for about six years now, the lines will start leaking eventually. The rubber hardens and the hose clamps just can't make a seal. If you have the $$ to spare, get/make some braided lines with AN fittings. More reliable, and look good too.
Just my $.02

Mine started leaking and I just took it off. It wasnt really a hassle to get to where the filter is at, IMO. On my jimmy they thought ahead and it has one from the factory, but its still a piece of chebby
