So my car has been making this terrible noise, with Shadowdragons help, it appears the pulley that drives the fan is worn out/wobbling, causing the racket.

I'm debating on just getting rid of it, bypassing that pulley, and putting in an electric fan.

How much of a pain in the ass is this? And how do I find out what the new belt length I need will be?

This is in my 94 Town Car, still a 4.6, but has a little more room to work with than the MN12s (or at least it appears that way).

Thanks guys!

The pulley that the fan is on is the water pump. Even if you remove the fan from it your water pump is still bad. You should replace it before you overheat your motor.

Whoa! Thank you for the information! Thankfully the car tempature has been completely normal, but you're right, that's still not a good thing!

Thanks for the fast heads up!
