First of all, remove the shifter trim by removing the ash tray and removing the one small screw holding the cover down. Carefully work the cover up disconnecting the hold down clips.

Next: Use EXTREME caution to trace and disconnect the OD button connection wire. Make sure that the wire is disconnected and COMPLETELY loosened from any and all hold down points.

There's a small slit along the front of the shifter handle, about an inch or so above the bottom of the leather that covers the handle. Inside that slit there is a U-clip that looks like a large staple. Reach in with a small flat head screw driver or pick to remove it by pulling it forward. Be careful not to drop or lose the clip.

**BEFORE REMOVING THE SHIFTER HANDLE: Run the disconnected OD wire up along the OD Button side of the shifter handle with a small bit of slack at the bottom where it runs back up inside the shifter handle, holding the wire and shifter handle tightly lift firmly in the upward direction on the shifter handle twisting slightly in either direction until the handle come off.

Failure to secure the OD wire can lead to damage and/or breakage of the OD wire. Proceed at your own risk.
